BCCH participation in the Bud:Runway Charity Run

We did it! The BCCH team once again participated in the charity bud:runway run, which took place on Saturday, 3 September 2016 at Liszt Ferenc Airport Runway 1, courtesy of Budapest Airport. British Chamber of Commerce in Hungary awarded COBCOE Quality Standard

The British Chamber of Commerce in Hungary (BCCH) has been recognised as a COBCOE Quality Standard certified chamber.

To achieve this recognition, the Chamber has successfully met the COBCOE Quality Standard requirements in key areas of its operations. These include governance, staff development, financial management, membership development, partner engagement, events programme, trade development, corporate social responsibility and communications.

Conference of Professional Women's Association and Award Ceremony Gala Dinner of Investors in People Hungary and PWA Press Release

The Professional Women's Association (PWA), Investors in People Hungary and the BCCH organised their joint event entitled "The Thousand Faces of Performance Conference at the Corinthia Hotel Budapest on 5 May 2016.

Her Majesty's Ambassador HE Iain Lindsay OBE stressed that "It is great to see that PWA and IIP work hard together to introduce successful, responsible and sustainable business values and share the most excellent organisational knowledge and practices in Hungary."

Register to vote


Lots of UK nationals who live overseas don’t know they might be able to take part in the UK’s Referendum on EU membership on 23 June.


For British expats, if you want to vote by post then the deadline of 16 May is approaching fast. If you haven’t yet had time to register, then visit bit.ly/reg-to-vote


To register to vote you must have been registered in the UK in the last 15 years, and all you need to know is your National Insurance number and passport. (You can still register if you don’t have a National Insurance number but you might have to supply more information to confirm your identity). And it only takes a few minutes.


Once you’ve registered, you can choose to vote by post, by proxy or in person. But a lesson learnt from previous polls is that the sooner you register to vote, the more time you have to arrange an absent vote. You can find more information on the Electoral Commission’s website:

AHK‐Investment Climate Survey Central and Eastern Europe 2016

The German Chambers of Commerce and Industry (AHK) in 16 countries across Central and Eastern Europe in 2006 joined to establish a common survey on economic and investment conditions in the region. The aim of the survey is to provide unbiased, reliable, comparable and up‐to‐date information on these markets by asking managers of international companies operating in these countries.  The detailed results of the 11th joint survey can be found here in Hungarian.

Roundtable Discussion about EU Structural and Investment Funds - Special Focus on the Energy and Industrial Sectors

Support schemes under the current EU funding cycle (2014-2020) have either recently been launched or will be launched this spring. The government’s stated objectives are to speed up the contracting of the funds available for Hungary in this programming period. Therefore, there is obvious interest among business, including Commercial Chamber members, to learn about the avenues of developing and joining projects and partners running for support under various funding schemes.

Diversity – a newly recognised value at the workplace

On 15 October 2015, additional organisations have signed the Diversity Charter as part of an official joining ceremony in Budapest, thus increasing the number of signatories who have committed themselves to a discrimination-free corporate culture to fifty-four. The message conveyed by these organisations to their employees and the business community is clear: through their signatures they declare that they believe in the power of diversity and are willing to act to further its cause. Among those newly joined are SMEs as well as multinational companies, but also organisations from the non-profit sphere and representatives of the media.
